The Challenge

Nexus Rental had a clear strategic ambition: drive AI adoption across the business at scale, in a way that creates internal efficiencies, supports continued growth, and amplifies value for customers. AI was already being used across teams in different ways, but without a coordinated picture leadership couldn't prioritise investment, plan training, or build the governance to scale it responsibly. They needed a structured analysis of where AI delivers genuine value, sequenced into something that could feed their product roadmap.

Nexus had the technical capability to run that analysis themselves. They chose to bring Enablis in deliberately: for fresh eyes, for cross-industry perspective, and for the kind of structured challenge that's hardest to bring to your own work. The programme was Nexus's investment, Nexus's design, and Nexus's leadership throughout.

Teams were experimenting with AI in different ways at different speeds. No coordinated view existed of what was working, what was not, and where the real opportunities sat.

Nexus needed a prioritised, honest analysis they could roll directly into their product roadmap, not a discovery document that would sit on a shelf.

Our Approach

Project Amplify was Nexus's analysis exercise, framed by three deliberate themes that ran through every workshop and conversation: Education to share what's possible, Empowerment to give teams the tools and confidence to act, and Innovation to surface genuine new opportunity. Nexus assembled a dedicated cross-functional Amplify team and committed to a weekly cadence of half-day workshops, each focused on a different part of the business.

Over two months the programme worked through supply chain, finance, sales and marketing, legal, PMO, HGV, and support services. Each session followed a structured format: understand the team's day-to-day context, map their top recurring workflows, identify where things get hard, then explore where AI and automation could genuinely help. Every workshop finished with a practical AI demo tailored to that team's real work, making opportunity tangible rather than theoretical.

Our role was to bring fresh eyes, structured challenge, and pattern recognition from other industries. The ground rules were deliberate. No wrong answers. Mapping, not judging. Be specific. The result was a living innovation backlog, maintained across all sessions, that captured and prioritised every opportunity from quick wins through to fundamental capability investments. Outputs that now feed directly into Nexus's product roadmap.

The Impact

The programme surfaced something more valuable than a list of AI use cases. By sitting with each team and understanding how they actually worked, Project Amplify connected patterns that no single business unit could see on their own. Manual processing that could be automated. Domain knowledge trapped in individuals rather than systems. Reporting that consumed days of effort every month. These were not problems any one team owned, and making them visible across the business was a turning point.

The innovation backlog now feeds directly into Nexus's product roadmap. AI adoption is being accelerated internally, and the benefits land for customers as efficiencies compound across the business. This was a deliberate, significant investment from Nexus to drive AI adoption at scale, sponsored by the CTO, staffed with a dedicated cross-functional team, and given the access and time to do the job properly.
